TESTIMONIALS

Marie Remz, Parent of 3 Athletes from Grand Forks, ND

I want to thank you all for coaching my three children during the week of camp. They all learned so much, and have more focus in the game. They have goals to work towards to achieve a higher evaluation or award already for next year's camp.

This is our daughters 3rd year doing the camp. Every year it has been better and better. The Nelson family does a wonderful job of organizing the camp and keeping it running smoothly. This year our daughter wanted to do 2 sessions and as a parent I was very hesitant as it would be long days and you worry about your child burning out. Coach Brad Nelson was great to talk with and help guide us, he looked at it from both aspects of a coach and a parent. Summer loved both sessions and learned so much! We appreciate all the time and effort everyone puts into the camp. Thank you!

Nikki Braaten, Parent of a 5/6th and 7/8th grade Athlete from Finley Sharon, ND

Great camp with awesome coaches! The “report card” that the kids got at the end of the week on their skills/fundamentals was much appreciated by this parent! My kids have been to other sports camps and yours has been the only camp to do that. Thanks for a fun/educational week!

Jonathon & Melanie Sundby, Parents of 3 Athletes from East Grand Forks, MN

My kids absolutely LOVED your camp. They like to be challenged on being better players. We as parents really feel that the coaches worked hard on making each camper a better player. My kids will take with them all that they learned and apply it in their future games. I love the positive and maybe even some negative feedback, that is what makes them want to work all the harder on becoming better team players. Thanks for all you do and the commitment you you make to helping our children thrive in the game of basketball.

Camps put on by the Nelson family are top notch! The positive energy is so catchy and really makes the experience fun! Focusing on fundamentals at all levels is so key. We love the Love of the Game Camps!

My daughter has never done basketball before. She enjoyed every minute of it and made new friends besides. She learned alot and wants to join again next year.

Paul and Sarah Gunderson, Parents of a 7/8th Grade Athlete from Cavalier, ND

I was very impressed with the Love of the Game Camp. The coaches did a fantastic job! Each camper is really pushed and given constructive criticism. The coaches really put a lot of time and effort into the personalized evaluation forms. My son will definitely be back again!

2020 Camp

Jill Wamstad, Parent of 6th/7th Grade Athlete from Hatton, ND

The structure of this camp was the best we have seen. I liked how coaches ran this camp verses students. On the last day my child came home with an evaluation sheet of her strengths and weaknesses. She now has direction on what to work and improve on. She came home every day and went straight to the court to practice.

Melanie Sundby, Parent of 6th/7th Grade Athlete from East Grand Forks, MN

My daughter thoroughly enjoyed your camp. I feel you guys did an excellent job of coaching these kids and giving them the positive feedback that they needed. I Love how you rated them on each fundamental and gave the feedback. That made them want to be better players. I really appreciated all your time and effort you put into this camp. It was well worth our time. :)

Brenda Slyt, Parent of 4th/5th/6th Grade Athletes from Climax, MN

My girls absolutely loved coming to camp everyday. They said they learned more from this camp than any other camp they have attended. My oldest loved how she was instructed to do something until she did it right. She loved how intense the coaches were and how they pushed her to be a better basketball player. Everyday my girls got home from camp, went outside and worked on what they learned that day. This camp really makes competitive kids love the game more! Thanks for making an impact in my girls lives because they’re already talking about next summer!

Stacie Weible, Parent of 4th/5th Grade Athlete from Northern Cass, ND

My daughter absolutely loved this camp! I was able to watch for a while a few of the days and the coaches were excellent. They were patient with the kids but also focused on teaching the “the right way” to shoot and lots of other skills. I would definitely recommend this camp to others. Thank you to the “For Love of the Game” group for providing a wonderful experience!

Jared Tozer, Parent of 3rd Grade Athlete from Thompson, ND

This is a great camp run by people that love and know the game more than anyone in the area when it comes to local basketball the names speak for themselves

Kristi Benson, Parent of 6th/7th Grade Athlete from Larimore, ND

Peyton absolutely loved this camp. She learned SO much to help her improve her game. The coaches really wanted the kids to get better and everyday of the camp they did. I loved that the coaches had high expectations for the kids. Peyton definitely wanted to get better because that's what the coaches expected of her. Thanks for such a great experience.

All three of our kids attended Love of the Game Camp this year and absolutely loved it! The coaches were excellent and our kids learned so much, from fundamentals to more advanced skills. Not one of them ever complained once about getting up early to go to camp each day! Their "Love of the Game" has only grown since attending this camp! Thank you to the professional and caring coaching staff for all you do! Also, a special thanks to Tammy for her loving care over the whole camp! From taking photos to being a kind and friendly face each day, Tammy is amazing!

2019 Camp

Kim Lazur, Parent of 7th Grade Athlete from Central Valley School, ND

I have sent my son to numerous basketball camps over the years, but the Nelson's Love of the Game Camp is by far his favorite! The Nelsons know their basketball and they do an excellent job at coaching the fundamentals while cultivating each athlete's knowledge and skills of the game. I highly recommend this camp.

Heidi Gader, Parent of 8th Grade Athlete from Northwood, ND

Our daughter has attended many basketball camps, but the Love of the Game Camp put on by the Nelsons is by far her favorite camp. They always challenge her, and push her to the next level. She has grown so much as a player over the years, and her experiences at their camps have definitely contributed to this.

Anonymous, Parent of 7th Grade Athlete from Grafton, ND

I have loved the way Craig Nelson breaks the individual skills down, but he still challenges each athlete to get outside of their comfort level and they learned to improve through failure. I have taken my daughter to a lot of basketball camps and Craig and his team are by far one of the best! They do an awesome job of coming up with specific training for players at different levels or talent. Hands down, Love of the Game is a must for your athlete if they are looking to challenge themselves to becoming a better athlete. They will work hard, make mistakes, but learn the correct process in the end!

Brady & Lyndsey Schwab, Parents of 2nd & 5th Grade Athletes from Thompson, ND

What I liked about coach Nelson's Love of the Game Camp, was the focus on teaching and learning basic basketball skills while allowing campers to practice new skills in controlled game settings as teaching and coaching continued. The individual competitions also provided great opportunities to work on individual skills while learning to support teammates, which is refreshing to see! My daughter had a blast and can't wait to go back next summer!

Terry Mitzel, Parent of 5th & 8th Grade Athletes from Hillsboro, ND

My sons really enjoyed the Love of the Game basketball camp this past summer and the takeaway they left with was not only game improvement but life skill as well. The pace and energy of the camp kept them engaged the entire time, and the skills competitions were rewarding and fun. As a parent making an investment in my young athletes, I truly appreciate the Nelsons commitment to the betterment of the game thru sound fundamentals and accountability, something that is lost in so many camps today. They have the ability to break down the most advanced techniques into simple, understandable steps appropriate for each age group. The Nelsons passion for the sport shows out in the detailed, technical approach they bring to their camps and the improvement in my son’s game this past school year proves it was a worthwhile decision to attend. We will continue to utilize the Nelsons and their camps and highly recommend them to anyone interested in the betterment of their game!

Alicia Howes, Parent of 6th Grade Athlete from Kindred, ND

My daughter attended Nelson Basketball Academy and she was enthusiastic about the positive atmosphere. The coaches are focused on player development and character building. We as a family look forward to future camps with Craig, Brad, and Dave Nelson as well as the other coaches and players!

Jennifer Dryburgh, Parent of 9th Grade Athlete from Hillsboro, ND

The Love of The Game Camp is a fundamentally sound basketball camp which encourages sportsmanship, teamwork, and foundational skills essential for athletes to grow as basketball players.

Anonymous, Parent of 2nd & 4th Grade Athletes from Thompson, ND

I would highly encourage everyone to attend the Love of the Game Basketball Camp. The camp was very well run and every coach took a vested interest in improving every camper, regardless of their experience or talent level. My daughters loved the camp and I could see their confidence grow with their positive coaching methods to help fuel their love of the game!

Melissa Oster, Parent of 4th & 6th Grade Athletes from Thompson, ND

My 4th grade daughter and 6th grade son attended camp last summer. They are students at Thompson, ND. They both really enjoyed the camp. They learned drills that they were able to work on at home to improve. They liked the individual and group competitions. They liked that everyone had a chance to win awards, no matter their skill level. As a parent I was impressed how all the coaches learned who all the players were and were very positive and encouraging helping them with their strengths and weaknesses. My kids saw some of these coaches months later and at least a couple of the coaches recognized them and still knew my kids by name. To me, that shows the level of dedication the coaches have to helping the kids who love this sport.
